Welcome to Work, Life and Balance! My goal here is to share how I plan to make the most of my life by finding Balance. It is an effort to keep myself honest, and here is how I plan to do it:
In an effort to take my spirituality to a deeper level, I plan to post a reflection from the Gospel on every Monday. Throughout the week, I challenge you to keep that reflection in mind and incorporate it into your daily routine. Small changes can have a big impact!
This tip of the week is to help improve one of your "slices of life", whether it's career, family, fitness, health...
I will share my weekly menu for the next week with my shopping list. I plan to put my focus on nutrition and fueling my body, without spending my life in the kitchen, and maximizing my time through proper meal planning.
Thursday anything goes!
I think it's really important to incorporate laughter into my life! So many studies show just how healthy laughing is...it truly is the best medicine!
I may not publish a post everyday, but I'll do my best. If you choose to follow my meal plans, note that I am not a nutritionist, in fact I am the furthest thing from one. My philosophy us to try to incorporate less processed junk and more simple homemade foods. I believe in yummy food and fueling my body with as many healthy foods as I can. (yes, I cheat once and a while) I try to limit sugar, but will never eliminate dessert! I believe in eating as natural and organic as I can, but I don't go on any of those crazy diets. Here is the way I structure my meal plans:
- Make-Ahead Meatless Monday: Not only can a day of meatless eating have a huge impact on your health, it can also save money! In order to start off the week right, I always make Monday's meal ahead so I can just throw it together when dinner time hits.
- Fish & Delish Tuesday: Fish is so good to include in your diet, but most of us fail to incorporate it consistently. On Tuesdays I plan to cook fish, but let's face it, it's not a kids favorite...so on Tuesdays I also make a simple and yummy dessert usually with a healthier twist
- No sweat Wednesday: Half way through the week I sometimes feel like I am falling behind, so on Wednesdays I make incredibly simple dishes. Most will utilize a crockpot. I also like to treat myself on Wednesdays to a glass of wine, so when I do I'll share my wine pairing.
- Leftover Thursdays: We always have leftovers, and rather than waste them, we have them on Thursdays. Add a fresh salad or find creative ways to mix it up a bit. It also gives Mom a break!
- Fun Fridays: Fridays are all about fun! We may have a family movie night with a fun homemade pizza, or go out to eat. My meal plans won't include entries for Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Weekends shouldn't be too structured in my mind! :)
Along the way in this blog you will also find "Balancing Acts", a challenge or change to help you achieve balance. Look for this symbol:
So here's hoping that through this blog I am able to find Balance in my life, and maybe share it with a friend or two...
